OSCAR WINNING FROCKS

The Hollywood Glitterati were out in force on Sunday night and my good friend Ross King did a superb job as ever reporting the nights shenanigans back to us folk in the UK. There were no real shockers this year and Hollywood glamour was out in full force. Even though generally the girls played it safe this year I still think many still need a style lesson in colour that suit their skin tones and colouring and their body shapes. Know yourself a little better starlets.

IN STYLE
My three winners that stood out from the crowd.
Halle Berry
HALLE BERRY really knows what suits her. This plunging Versace dress played to all her strengths and the colour suited her skin tone. This dress would have been wrong on someone like Nicole Kidman for example. It was age appropriate, of course everyone in Hollywood is 23 !! Super stylish and glamorous. Limit the accessories when a dress is this showstopping it can cheapen the overall look.

JESSICA CHASTAIN was my second favourite. A chance was taken with this colour on her pale skin tone but it toned beautifully with her hair. The whole look was magical and surreal. This Armani Dress was so flattering as it was tailored to a millimetre of her body and exquisitely beaded which you cannot see in this photograph. This look would not have worked had she not been fitted correctly, she almost looks like an Oscar statuette. Flawless.

JENNIFER HUDSON also I thought looked amazing with her new body AND her new hair. I know Jennifer likes to cover her arms and the current trend of lace overlay served her well. The colour choice popped on the red carpet there were very few dresses in this beautiful midnight blue colour. A sleek and stylish Cavalli one of my favourite designers. Way to go Jennifer.

RUN A MILE
ANNE HATHAWAY come on Anne you knew you were going to win but you chose this Prada Dress 3 hours before your big night ! and it shows. Sorry Prada but this neckline is outdated stiff and starchy. The dress looked as though it was made from cardboard. It did not flow or fit very well. The colour was too pale for her. Anne always looks good in bright colours I would have liked to see her in a showstopping red gown. Anne the key to style -organisation and planning and knowing yourself which I always think that is not there yet. But congratulations on the Oscar x
AMANDA SEYFRIED too looked washed out in this dress. I know this one has been applauded on the night but I think this makes her look too washed to in another deeper colour this would have looked amazing. A beautiful Valentino gown but colour so wrong for her. Funnily enough i have t on good authority this was similar to Anne Hathaways other choice of dress so that would make Anne a LOSE x LOSE.

Finally JENNIFER GARNER girlfriend your husband was the man of the night- must try harder ! This whole ensemble was dreadful. Even the necklace was so wrong for her like an old bit of twisted metal around her neck and all that frou frou on her backside . How on earth did she sit down ?? This whole look resembled a department store buy.Is Gucci doing Department store now ?? But Jennifer does not really do glamour well generally she tends to look awkward and uncomfortable her clothing personality tends to be more sporty and athletic it is when she looks her best. My worst look of the night. Sorry Jen !! x

LONDON FASHION WEEK A/W 13 REPORT

IN STYLE .........OR RUN A MILE

In Style

Following on from last weeks blog I continued my search for a Fashion Collection with Style rather than fashion. Beauty rather than ugly. So here are my winners and losers girlfriends.

Burberry Prorsum
My favourite show of the week has to be without a doubt BURBERRY PRORSUM. Super stylish. Expensive chic. Lots of camel and red. No ghastly ugly garish prints. Simple clean classic cut. A lot of just below knee a big look for hemlines I predict next Autumn.
Burberry Prorsum
Christopher Bailey has overall control at Burberry now with full responsibility for design. Well done Christopher, perfection
Issa London
ISSA LONDON another impressive collection. The theme running through this collection was NAVAJO INDIAN which actually was seen in many shows. A definite trend for Autumn. However it showed itself in a more sexy yet classy easy with ISSA. Danielle Helayal 's influence, a sexy Brazilian is all over this collection. It was stylish, wearable with fluidity. With a nice sprinkling of bright well chosen colours.

SHOEWATCH:
Check out the amazing High heeled loafers at MULBERRY. Big news for Autumn

RUN A MILE..................
Tom Ford
Well I am very embarrassed after gushing last week how much I was looking forward to the Stylemaster TOM FORDs collection. Well OMG what a let down. Tom ??? What happened? This was UGGGGLY. What can I say > Check out stylistas this photograph to give you an idea. Ugly prints , over textualized, fussy . Unflattering boxy shapeless cuts. I was relying on you Tom. Maybe you should stick to designing for men.

MARIA GRACHVOGEL in my opinion failed too with this dismal collection. Normally women design well for other women. Not in this case. AND the choice of print was like a migraine. Here is a photograph to give you an idea as to the choice of colours revolting and uninspirational. The outfits were very depressing and did not celebrate women or style whatsoever.

Well Style pussycats its all over for six months but hey let me know what you think................ or if you feel there was a collection that deserves a mention that I didn't get to see.  SEE YOU NEXT WEEK . LOADS TO TELL XX

THE STYLE LIST February 2013

Welcome to this weeks Style List

IN STYLE...........OR RUN A MILE
In style
Well well my little Style bunnies London Fashion week is once again upon us more about that later. First of all let me inform you of my little style pockets in my week.

Escorted my friend Lady Elizabeth for lunch at The Wyndham Hotel, Chelsea Harbour followed by a Marilyn Monroe Exhibition at The Chelsea Design Centre. A great and stylish way to spend an afternoon. It really did not feel like London at all more like St Tropez. This little oasis is literally 5 Mins of the bustling Kings Road. The Hotel was serene and after a pre lunch cocktail on the Bar Verandah (it was a beautiful winters day!) went for lunch. The staff were attentive and the food was simply amazing . After a healthy lunch of grilled Salmon on a bed of Puy lentils we were enjoying the views so much we stayed on for dessert. Something Jojo never does ! Chocolate fondant with salted caramel ice cream. Stop it girlzz there is nothing stylish about dribbling(unless of course you are David Beckham ).

We then decided to walk off our dessert around the Design Centre.
The Marilyn Monroe Photographic Exhibition had come to town. Beautiful iconic photographs chronicling her life. The prints were all for Sale. We then retreated to The Design Club for champagne where appropriately 'Some Like it Hot' was playing. I forgot how good that Film was ! Be quick this exhibition closes on 1st March 2013.Imperial Wharf station right outside

Another great London Restaurant to make this weeks STYLE-LIST Galvin at Windows Park Lane. A perrenial favourite of mine I just forgot how good it was. I was lured in by a special offer (ok,ok I need to save too) £25 for 2 courses with a glass of champagne and coffee. The offer lasts only until end of February.

The setting unbelievable views across London for miles. Situated right at the top of The Hilton Park Lane. Plenty of window seats. if you haven't been here put it on your list you won't be sorry great for a special occasion.

Style List Film
I was so fed up off all those miserable films released lately went to see 'I GIVE IT A YEAR'  I knew it would be light hearted and fun but was pleasantly surprised how well written it was yes hilarious but moving too. It was a classy piece reminding me of Four Weddings and Love Actually Films.Son of Spall was brilliant in it I am a big fan anyway. Did not look at my watch once and.... was actually smiling when we came out !  Do go and see you will be pleased you did.

RUN A MILE..........
Ok finally LFW A/W13 I know you were waiting for this to be featured higher up in my blog but remember I am a STYLE blogger not a Fashion blogger. Unfortunately even though the two shows i have seen today had not a shred of style in them. I am sure you will find other FASHION bloggers brown (brown is the new grey) nosing designers but I will tell you how it is.
John Rocha
JOHN ROCHA purrrrrleeeez there was not one item in your collection that did not make a woman look ugly. Nothing to enhance the beauty of a womens body. Deeply depressing colours (apart from the fruit gum green). Shapeless ,dull, monotonous the same outfit again and again. John Rocha No! straight to the bottom of the class. I will not even put my pictorials on this site tin does not deserve airtime. So here is a lovely picture of John not nearly as depressed as me just leaving his show.

Sister By Sibling
Brace yourself true stylistas this earlier show was even worse. Ridiculously ugly knitwear. Horrendous. Sister By Sibling. It might (??) be fashion but it sure aint style sister !!!It has no place in our style file. Some people may buy into this look but stick with me style sisters and I will ensure you do not.

LONDON Fashion Week 56 shows over 5 days . There will be hopefully a designer that has true style at his fingertips yes talking to you TOM FORD tune in next week and we will sort through the dross together. WORD of Warning PLEASE START YOUR SHOWS ON TIME if London Theatres were this undisciplined we would not have a Theatreland. If you don't respect your audience then we won't respect you. If you are left queueing outside in the rain I urge you to walk away go to another show.

STYLE LIST February 2013

Hi Stylistas
Welcome to this weeks Style List .....

IN STYLE or RUN A MILE

In Style
Victoria Beckham queen of style back in London and back in style with a planned opening of her new store in my fave place Knightsbridge. Watch this blog and will report back with opening dates

Louis Vuitton new bespoke service yes girls and boys you can choose your own style and your own colour and Louis will construct a bag thats just for you,all yours and yours alone. purrrrrrrrr  x

A show oozing style The Bodyguard at The Adelphi on The Strand. A must see! I loved this show although based on the film it also includes all Whitneys top hits. It is a fitting tribute to the late great Ms Houston. I saw it this week and already can't wait to see it again. Heather Headley as Rachel Marron is simply superb. Go see go see so see.

Another new discovery this week is the amazing Souk Medina in fact a whole journey of discovery. On Short Street in a lovely part of Covent Garden. I honestly felt as though I was in deepest darkest Morocco in this cavernous restaurant. Truly magical with belly dancers, Mezzes and feasts. A set menu starts from £20 per head. I am going to have my next party here ( I will think of an excuse, I will !!). What fun and real style. Check it out team go in a big group and Paaaaartaaaay !

RUN A MILE....

Calling all Stylistas ONESIES so wrong on ALL levels. Enough already. No more. Please no. No more. Can you hear me ? are you listening?

Peplum dresses its so over darlings. No self respecting stylist will be seen sporting a peplum. Was so over two seasons ago this is not a trend worth dragging out and really does not suit most body times do you know anyone that wants that part of their body emphasising. Enough said.
